The Kentucky Derby is the first Saturday of May. Oaks Day is the Friday before. Derby Festival events run for the better part of two weeks leading up. We’re an Indianapolis-based chauffeur service, and Derby weekend is one of our highest-demand booking windows of the year. We pick clients up in Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers, and the surrounding metro and drive them to Louisville for the weekend.
Most Derby riders book a round-trip: down on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, back Sunday. The chauffeur stays with you through the weekend, drops you at Churchill Downs in the morning, picks you up after the race, handles dinner reservations and late-night returns to the hotel. If you’re staying in Indianapolis and want to do the day trip, that’s also a regular booking. Long, but doable.
Book early. Louisville hotels sell out months ahead for Derby weekend, and so does chauffeur availability across the region. We typically lock in our race-day slots by late March. After that, we may have hourly availability for trips that don’t include Saturday at the track, but the full Derby package becomes hard to commit to.
