The Indianapolis 500 is the busiest week of the year for us. Race day is the last Sunday of May, with 350,000-plus attendees at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana, just west of downtown. Race week kicks off mid-May with practice sessions, time trials, Carb Day on the Friday before, Legends Day on Saturday, and the race itself Sunday. Every one of those days has its own traffic, parking, and pickup logistics.

If you’re going on race day, get a chauffeur. Parking is brutal even with a credentialed lot pass, the walk in from the satellite lots is long, and the post-race traffic out of Speedway can run two hours. A chauffeur drops you at the closest gate they’re allowed to use, then comes back when you’re ready to leave. The parking math, the walk, and the post-race gridlock all disappear.

Book early. We have a hard limit on how many vehicles we can commit to race day, and those slots fill by early April most years. Corporate hosting groups in particular should book by mid-March if they want executive group transportation locked in.

A few practical notes for race day

Pickup time matters. Gates open at 6 a.m. for race day. If you have a Pagoda Suite or premium hospitality access, your sponsor will give you a specific arrival window. For general admission, we recommend a pickup that gets you to the gate between 7 and 8 a.m. Anything later and the perimeter traffic eats your morning.

Pickup after the race is the harder part. Gridlock around the Speedway runs from about 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The chauffeur will text you when they’re close and meet you at a pre-agreed point. We typically use the same set of intersections each year, and we’ll send you the exact pickup location the morning of.
